Creative Menopause By Baisali Chatterjee Dutt
For a while there,
I was worried.
So
terribly,
terribly
worried.
I thought
I’d
lost you.
I thought
you’d
never come back.
It’s a sinking feeling,
like an almost-orgasm
fading away
and you know it’s not your night.
It’s a depression
which smothers your
soul-breath
out of you,
like a bird balding,
one
feather
at
a
time.
I’d sit lost
and dumb;
a lonely semi-colon,
without purpose,
without spirit,
helpless in my
floundering
feelings
of fear
and failure.
But now,
you’ve gushed back
into my life.
A mighty river
sweeping all doubts away.
You’ve found me
and I’ve got you good,
oh so good! So great!
I’ve got everything!
I can write once again!
Welcome back,
my precious,
precious
words!
